Librarians Helping Librarians

Sometimes the best resource is other librarians.
Here are some social networks that can help:

The blogging libraries wiki
http://www.blogwithoutalibrary.net/links/index.php?title=School_libraries
provides a comprehensive list of libraries around teh world who use blogging to communicate.

Teacher/Librarian Ning
http://teacherlibrarian.ning.com/
Need some ideas about rules for lunch in the library? How about using Twitter? Want to connect with other librarians? Here is an online forum for teacher librarians to communicate ideas, lesson plans and just about anything you can think of.

Colorado School Librarians Ning
http://teacherlibrarian.ning.com/group/coloradoschoollibrarians
Connect with Colorado school librarians online: forums, threaded discussions, local connections.

Colorado Association of Libraries
http://www.cal-webs.org/
Stay current with colorado library issues. Attend conferences with informative workshops and networking opportunities.
Take it a step further by joining any of the discussion groups:

Second Life
www.secondlife.com

Why would a librarian want to join Second Life? For the online reference, the networking, and the virtual conferences. ALA held a SL meeting with Chris Crutcher which focused on censorship in January 2009. Most school filters block SL, but the meetings usally occur around 6pm MST.
